Copycat tickers: how to avoid fake Solana tokens
Short answer: tickers are not unique on Solana. When a coin trends, dozens of copies with the same name, ticker and logo appear within minutes. The only thing that identifies a token is its contract address (CA).
How to avoid copycats
- Get the CA from the project's official X or website, not from a reply or DM.
- Compare the CA on the scanner. Copycats are usually minutes old with tiny liquidity.
- Check age, holders and liquidity: the real token is typically older and far more liquid.
